As part of this project, A4 was contracted for the complete architectural transformation of an older building into a high-end furniture store on Iris Street in Ottawa.
Spread over an area of approximately 80,000 square feet, these premises required the demolition of the existing interior fittings to ensure the reconstruction of the elements related to the base building, all based on the program established by the client and validated by our firm. An important code assessment was carried out to propose alternatives to the client so that his project would respect the distances required for a compliant evacuation. In addition, our mandate included the renovation of the store fronts, providing an exterior appearance that perfectly matched the brand image of Home Société. Following discussions with the client, we prepared a concept based on the drawings and suggestions provided, and then ensured its realization while maintaining fluid coordination with the many collaborators.
Many challenges were met during this project, including the need to complete the project in part under winter conditions following the pandemic-related work stoppage. Several changes to the program along the way also illustrated the flexibility of our team in the face of change and highlighted the quality of leadership offered by the A4 team.
