The Maison de l’Orée-des-Bois project was initiated by a desire to design a residence that was customized to the finest detail for a family of four. Both parents are professionals with atypical working hours, for whom the organization of the space had to be thought through in detail well beforehand. The paths are carefully planned to reflect the usual routines of family members, with particular emphasis on those of the parents. Sports-oriented and active, the family requires solutions adapted to the storage of various equipment, certain being oversized.
By working with our team, the clients have committed themselves to a rigorous creative and analytical process. They were involved in it through close collaboration at every stage. Through open communication between all stakeholders, we were able to align the customer’s vision with an environmentally conscious proposition. Recognizing the benefits of a sustainable approach, our team appointed the specialized consultant Énerzam to suggest energy-efficient systems that would enhance comfort and make this project a reference in the residential sector.
In choosing this site overlooking the city of Gatineau, the river and green spaces, the clients were aiming for a design that was sensitive to its location. We therefore maximized the possible views while encouraging natural light to enter through the many generous openings. Our close collaboration with the landscape architect also gave rhythm to the project, reinforcing the dialogue between the site, its amenities, and the new residence.
