In order to offer new facilities to the Clinique vétérinaire de la Montagne-Noire, our services were retained by Construction Miric and MECG Développements Inc. for the design and construction of a new building including the layout of the clinic’s premises in Saint-André-Avellin.
Our team was given carte blanche for the exterior design of the building, which allowed us to offer the client a contemporary project that would stand out in its environment while maintaining harmony with the surrounding buildings. Thus, the classic form of the “maisonette” with its double-pitched roof gives structure to several facades, two of which highlight the clinic’s reception area. The maximization of openings, particularly through the cathedral roof, allows ample natural light to penetrate the premises and reinforces the feeling of well-being felt upon entering the building. The marked use of wood on the interior and wood-like finishes on the exterior combined with the wood variations also contribute to the warmth of the concept.
Given the location of the project at the intersection of two central streets in the municipality, the possibility of future modifications to the roadway by the Ministry of Transport of Quebec, and the client’s intention to eventually construct a second building on the same site, our team had to do some further reflection in relation to the location of the project before proposing possible options to the client.
