Designed with a sustainable and personalized approach, the development of CIMA+’s new office and living spaces in Gatineau is undeniably one of our interior design team’s key projects. In order to develop a program reflecting the firm’s current and future needs, we first carried out several surveys with team leaders. It was essential to understand the reality of each group, then to proceed with an in-depth analysis of the information gathered in order to propose two layout options.
The chosen option includes flexible furniture, for example, height-adjustable desks in the common workspace, as well as several enclosed office spaces for increased privacy. In this environment featuring exposed construction materials and electromechanical systems, CIMA+’s work is highlighted and celebrated. A mural by the visual artist Boris Biberdžić invigorates the decor. Inspired by nature and engineering, it recaptures in a stylized way all the colors of the office.
In line with sustainable development, biophilia plays a central role in the conceptual gesture, with visual references to nature that ensure people feel they belong. Natural and artificial plants, organic patterns, and wood combined with daylight from the generous fenestration create an ecosystem where the work experience and collegiality are nurtured. Based on the WELL and LEED standards, the design also features circadian lighting and excellent air quality, in addition to sustainable finishes and materials.
