Following an invitation to bid process, A4 Architecture + Design was invited to undertake the renovation of the stage, the auditorium and the two foyers of the Salle Odyssée at the Maison de la Culture. The project’s scope included, but was not limited to:
– The complete replacement of the stage building system and flooring;
– Replacement of the floor coverings on both levels of the auditorium;
– Replacement of the seating and acoustic panels on both levels of the auditorium;
– Reconstruction of the control room;
– Replacement of floor coverings in both foyers.
Since the project was very specialized, several other consultants collaborated with the design team including a stage design team, a structural engineer (stage) and an electromechanical engineer.
The small time lead acquired through the pre-purchase and other strategies was used to add some work at the client’s request, including the replacement of the handrails and railings in the hall, and the finishing of the balcony nose and stage frame.
